The Path That Led Here
Over time, our work expanded beyond printing alone, as we began helping clients think through their ideas, messaging, and visual direction before anything went into production.
I started designing more than 30 years ago, beginning with invitations and small creative projects. Over time, that work grew into custom apparel, and eventually I became known as “The T-shirt Lady.” What started as creativity became a way to provide for my family and create something meaningful.
As a single mother raising three sons, flexibility wasn’t optional it was necessary. My youngest son was born with health conditions that required more of my time and attention, which meant traditional work wasn’t always possible. Design became a way to build stability while still being present, and that reality shaped how I built my business.
That journey led me to open a copy and print center, becoming the first Black woman to own one in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. It was a milestone rooted in perseverance, faith, and the belief that representation matters not just for me, but for the community around me.
Inspired by my parent's encouragement and the creativity of my children, CDJ Graphics continued to evolve. What began as graphic design and printing has grown into a Brand Lab & Production Studio, including hands-on production, a mobile print unit, and training opportunities designed to educate and empower others.
The name CDJ Graphics comes from my three sons. Everything I’ve built reflects family, resilience, and intention. This work is about legacy creating with care, supporting other people’s visions, and building something that stands the test of time.
